Apple is getting ready to make its own AI software for machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI).
According to Axios, the technology company is investing more than $300 million in Palat, a company that makes artificial intelligence software that is aimed at automating data science tasks, which it calls “big data analytics.”
The investment will fund the Palat AI team.
The company also plans to build its own hardware for AI applications, said Axios.
It plans to sell the Palantar hardware and software to universities and other companies.
Apple also is building out a self-driving car and is reportedly considering using a software solution to improve the autonomous driving technology.
