Uber Technologies Inc. announced a new product today that will allow users to order and pay for their rides in a number of ways, including on-demand and on-the-go.
The ride-hailing company said it is now rolling out UberX, a new service that allows customers to pay with a smartphone.
Users will be able to select a pickup location from an area map, and then tap on the Uber logo in the top right corner of their screen to make a payment.
Once they’re in the driver’s seat, they can request a ride in a few minutes.
Customers will then be able view the number of miles that have been covered and receive a notification when their trip is complete.
UberX will be available to users in the U.S. and Canada starting Thursday, Oct. 14, and in the rest of the world starting next month.
Uber said it was working to integrate more than 100 cities into the service.
The company says the launch will add $50 billion to the U,C.
budget and more than 400,000 jobs.
Uber’s new service is similar to Lyft’s, which was acquired by ride-sharing company Lyft Technologies Inc., in October, and is now owned by another company, Uber Technologies LLC.
Uber and Lyft have said the ride-booking service will be free for UberX users in cities where the company offers a ride-share service.
But Uber said in a blog post that its new app will offer a discounted price for users in select cities, including New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago.
The app will be accessible for free in all UberX cities and will cost $8 a month or $10 a month for a one-time license, Uber said.
Uber is hoping to make its new service the first to offer a price-to-ride option for users.
Uber has been working to create a cheaper alternative to Lyft, which is known for charging customers extra for rides that do not actually end up being covered.
The service will allow UberX drivers to avoid some of the costs associated with Lyft, including fuel and insurance.
Uber says its new services will be fully self-driving by the end of 2019.
It will also offer its own driver-assistance programs that will work with drivers to help them safely deliver passengers to and from their destinations.
Uber previously rolled out a similar app, called UberX in partnership with Lyft.
Uber did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Uber Technologies will not be the first company to offer an app-based ride-rental service.
Last year, a company called Lyft launched its own app, which allows users to rent rides for a fee.
The New York-based company has had success with the service in cities like New York, Los
