‘The Matrix’ reboot hits theaters with more sci-fi elements, but not quite a sequel

The trailer for “The Matrix” reboot was posted online Friday and included an appearance by a cast member from the film.

The clip, titled “Brief Encounter,” showed the character Neo (played by Sam Worthington) meeting a character named K-9 and then having a conversation with a robot that he created.

The robot’s name was K-7 (played with a lot of emotion by William Hurt).

The clip was posted by Neo’s former sidekick, Neo’s sister-in-law, Missy (played also by Hurt), who plays the role of K-12.

It was unclear if the clip was the same as the trailer posted to YouTube by a group calling itself the “Terminator: The Neo” group, which has said the film’s “K-7” character will be played by actress and actress-producer Jessica Walter.

The trailer was not immediately available for viewing online.

The film’s first trailer was released earlier this month, and the film stars Will Smith, Naomi Watts, Amy Adams, Keanu Reeves, James Badge Dale, Margot Robbie and Tilda Swinton.

It is being released by Sony Pictures Classics and will have its theatrical debut on May 25, 2020, according to Variety.

The “Terminators” reboot is scheduled to be released on July 1, 2021.
